996 Improvement
Discussion
I want to give a little bit of extra power to my aged 2003 996 C2 Tiptronic . Car has already the Porsche sports exhuast with d/switch and Porsche sports suspension MO30. I want to give the car a few extra hp
I am thinking of twqo things ( excluding remapping etc )
The 996 Evolution Intake System Tiptronic as sold for example in Porscheshop UK ( 770euros) or the Plenum for the 996 . Does anyone know of these mods? do they make any real difference ? is there any risk ?
I dont want to remap the car etc if i do any mod it will one of these two i suppose ...
No direct experience with this car but I had a 996 C4S and general view I got was that there aren't many cost effective ways of tuning the car. I spoke to JZM near Hemel Hempstead (who I use for my GT3) about one of these inlet type systems and their view is that they don't work and they often end up putting cars with running problems back to standard. I was told there are some powerkit parts but these are massively expensive but for little gain. The hext stage is to go for a supercharger, but by the time you have spent £5k on that you would probably be better off selling your car and buying a turbo.
Try calling JZM and speak to Steve - he is a mind of knowledge and in my experience very honest about what works and what doesn't.
