For stock 350i '86 I'd like some information:

1) Wheel specs: ET and the bolt pattern, what are they? Does the wheels from any other car fit (some old Ford maybe)? I might have a need for a second (cheap) wheel set for very random usage and I don't think I'd need original wheels for this (especially if I can get fitting steel wheels for nothing or next to it).

2) Ignition parts - are these the same as in eg. Range Rover 3.5 EFI? Are there any TVR-preferred brands?

Dunno about preferred brands for TVR, but these two pages will explain everything about the ignition system for pretty much all RV8 variants of that period.

Due to the documentation being for SD1, I assume TVR hasn't done any modifications for the ignition. To clarify a bit I know how the systems works and there's not a single problem with my TVR's ignition. I just want to keep it that way and therefore change the parts that tend to get wear and tear dut to age and usage.

Thanks, I can be pretty sure I get all the right parts. The local part dealer here is a Range Rover enthustiant, so I'm sure I'll get good parts from him smile.

Has anyone info of the wheels?

Wheels are 15" with an offset of 23mm (ET23)

Stud pattern is 5 x 112mm (same as ford granada and most mercs)

Agreed, howeer fwd offsets are usually too big to fit to a wedge.

7J x 15 was standard, running 205 x 60 x 15 VR tyres - not sure on the offset though

I have just fitted a 5x112 et35 set of 18" to my 400se. Straight on. No rubbing / issues. That said on the rear i may re-seat the with 5mm spacers.

You will need spacers. You may also need to replace the hub studs for longer ones which is easy. Search my profile for my 400 se thats now running 17s I loaded some pictures a while back.

On the idnition front the proper range rover branded parts should be good spec (as opposed to OEM) or failing that proper Lucas parts. I don't recommend intermotor parts.

Just check the distributor as there are several types ... Lucas DLM8 rings a bell.
