We have a chalet which we are planning on running during the summer. Its centrally located, and can sleep 30/35, and we are planning running it on a B&B basis.

My problem is marketing. I am not entirely sure how and where to pitch it, and to who! Its a basic 2*, but not sure if it should be run as a week thing, or a weekend, or just a come and go (tailor made package)

PH advice required please.

Ah, opened this up looking for info on holidays there as we've been offered an apartment in St Jean in the summer and will be looking for things to do.

Sorry, can't help with your question smile

Switzerland: *the* most boring (and expensive) country I have ever visited.

Good luck with attracting visitors.

Well they are either overcharging or offering rubbish then. The Port Du Soleil has one of the most year round appeals I know of. Skiing in winter, mountain biking in summer. Add in Mont Blanc Rally, Cycle Races etc all passing through and it seems like a good bet to me.

To the original poster - I am in the very early stages of setting up a rental website in morzine. At launch I would purely be looking to get traffic so you could probably hop on that if you like? It wouldn't be anything fancy but would aim to do well in the search engines and then pass contact details (rather than the full booking service etc). PM me if you are interested.

Stayed there in the summer twice, both times for Mountain Biking. Dont forget the Tour De France.

I'm off to Morzine in just over a week. From the weather forecasts it looks like summer is starting early!

Anybody got good recommendations on summer companies to use for this kind of trip?

Summer season is very slim pickings for chalet owners in Morzine.

Don't get me wrong, I love it. In my opinion, Morzine is best in the summer with the mountain biking, hiking, open air pool, tennis etc etc.

But the fact is that all the money is in the winter season. Morzine is saturated with start-ups like yours, and chalets with masses of spare capacity in the summer.

Biking seems the most popular activity (although it attracts a certain sort wink ) so you may want to focus your energies there. The Passportes du soleil, the TdF, downhill runs etc.

Triathlon is another growing area - and the olympic pool really helps. The GB team train there I believe.

Forget this! Boring and expensive. Annecy is a much better bet.

You have your own place there then?

Unfortunately not, although I have been going for 20 years (just came back from a trip last week) and I have family living and working there. My folks had a business for about 10 years letting chalets in Morzine, so I'm pretty familiar with the ins and outs.

You say you already have a chalet, and that you are running it in summer. Does this mean you own it, and someone else manages it in winter?

We rent it during the winter normally, but have taken it on for the summer this year.

Well, good luck. Biking is the way forward, IMO.

yes I have no idea where to start, but given the size and star rating I'd have thought young mountain bike groups would love it.

I'd agree, not that it's much help to the OP, Geneva doesn't offer much for the tourist.

Have you looked at the possibility of school trips with such a capacity? I'm sure there a million and one hoops to go through, but I can't think of many more likely candidates for regular large groups.

No idea if schools are interested in such things any more though...

On the basis you rent and dont own, why have you rented it for the summer with no idea of traffic profile?

Does the chalet have any historic summmer traffic. Cycle clubs for guided week road tours (poss even competitive as plenty of mamil willing to have a go), mtb'ing, guided walking holidays for the over 50's/

surely it cant be that hard to open up three markets that each have 4 weeks to fill?
