Pure Pott Head ( google him ) raised the point about 991s and 997s. Are both models in production in Zuffenhausen now on the same production lines at the same time. His querey is can you still order, and have them build for you , a 997 GT3/RS, a 997 C4 or a 997 Turbo ? They are still on the configurator but we know that does not mean much, the 4.0 RS is still there.

How could you miss PPH? Its only one 't' in Pot though, Major Dad biggrin, just for googling purposes of course. Good question he poses though... Answers on a postcard.

Pretty sure its all 911's now. The Cayennes and boxters are made at Leipzig or at least the Cayennes are. For a while the boxters were also put together by a 3rd party somewhere but porsche reigned that back in, or something like that. Anyhow having a factory tour last october i think im right about the 911's as there was ever the 4.0 RS on the production line and all the GT models used to be made at Weissach.

When I was at the factory collecting a 997 GT3 we did the tour and they had cup cars on production line as well as GT cars... The engines for the GT cars were shipped in from another source unlike the C2\C4 engines built on site. As for the bodys they were built there as far as I could tell.

Where are the engines made? I've read that Porsche use a VAG group facility in Gyor, Hungary but beyond that does anyone know details?

Watch Mega Factories and you'll see them build engines on site.

From OP, the real questiion here is, are they still building the 997 or has production shifted to 991 only.

I can confirm that in 2008 Cups and GT3s were only built at Zuffenhausen. Cup S and RSR s were Weissach only. And in June 2011 Cups were still being built on the line at Zuffenhausen.

Now, what models of 911 are built presently at Zuffenhausen ? Support your answer with facts please ?

And Pure Pot Head relates to a Special Jameson Irish Whiskey , Redbreast Pure Pot Still from which my friend takes his nickname, Pure Pot Head.
