I need an SD card for my Canon 550D I will be using the HD Video and occasionally the odd RAW picture but mainly JPEG. Do I need a Class 10 card? I see a lot say 20 mb/s does this matter as its about £60 in Jessops for the 16 Gb SD HDvideo card at 20mb/s and £23 on eBay for the same but 30 mb/s?

In the meantime will need something for the weekend, just to practice about with the camera so will does Class speed matter for basic photo taking as I need to buy today really. Cheap and Cheerful preferably! Probably Jessops no doubt.

Is there any reason why you would advise me to stay away from 7DayShop's own brand SDHC cards?
The reason I ask is that I'm tempted by their multipack of 3 x 8Gb class 10 cards for £15!
I'm touring round the US in a few months and I'm gonna need a couple more cards but would rather take 4 x 8gb cards than 2 x 16gb or 1 x 32gb on the grounds that smaller cards means you lose a lot less photos in one go when your camera gets lost/destroyed as I have found out previously!

Personally I stick to professional brands for their reliability (or as much reliability as memory can offer) But I use mine professionally so perhaps I look at it in a different light. I just wouldn't want to lose any pictures, especially if I was embarking on a tour of somewhere and this would be the only photographic memory I'd have.

Fair point...I have just bought 3 x 8GB Sandisk's instead...
I think I'm now all set for my trip!

Yes, but it can sometimes take a long time to arrive (often 5-6 working days), so not recommended if you need some film for that urgent shoot in a couple of days.
