Apologies if we've had this already. As a proud 996 owner, my heart sinks. Am I really going to be forced to get a 993...

Im sure a 993 will give you as much driving pleasure without the constant barrage about engine failure.. 3 of my friends have 996's and not one of them has had any trouble I will upgrade my 993 to a 996 one day soon as funds allow

Dont you mean that when you need the funds, you will just sell the 993, buy a 996 and pocket a nice profit? wink

I think you will be pleasantly surprised about how long it takes to sell. No 993 or 964 in good nick is hard to move on, only dogs stick.

132K? Barely run in.

But then you will get someone who turns up and wants it inspected, because now adays everyone thinks you should have an inspection

Then when the inspection is done and they have paid the £350, the inspection will state that the 18 year old car has 18 years of use, 18 years of wear and tear to the engine and consumables and have rear rusty PU supports ......... then the fella will say, hmmmmmm drop me 5k off the price so I can sort it or I'll go somewhere else.

Thats the modern world for you.

...upgrade!!!....when funds allow!!....tongue in cheek shirley.....ok depends on what 996 you want....but Gen 2 C4S are cheaper than most NB 993s.....go figure....

p.s. you really don't understand the concept and joy of the "air-cooled" engine and the sheer quality and build of the 993.....free up that 993 NOW for a person that does.

Ummm well if you will swap your 996t for mine im up for that as for 'do not get the air cooled thing' do you really think that a company such as porsche would have stuck with the air cooled engines if they where better than the new ones? I am not into classic cars and will be selling the 993 as soon as i can afford a turbo a backward step you may think but me no onwards and upwards allways

I mean it with no disrespect, however from the above comment, I'm unsure why you went the aircooled way in the first place.

Im not saying the 993 is bad I love it and when i saw it for sale just had to have it, To be honest i knew little about the 911 it was my first one, I had a 928 once and a 944. so the build quality drew me back to a porsche, When i renew this one it will be for a newer model as all the older more classic cars i have had tend to be wrapped up in cotten wool and only bought out on sunny days, and i want to use the car more and more and not worry about the next show i go to or where i park it. Ive driven a 996 t and just love the whey it drives, and rocket ship performance. The 993 is a great car and the fact that they would appear to be going up in value will make it difficult to part with. when it does go im sure it will be to someone who loves the air cooled bit and will cherish it.
