Hmm - was open the other day - and I noticed that they had a sale on...

However, just up towards the Oatsheaf pub from them is a new cycle shop (can't remember the name though banghead ) that is "opening soon".
Had a lot of nice Specialized kit in the window, and Cycle Kingdom also do Specialized - I wonder if the "new" shop is them........

Great shop as well, so hope the new one IS them!!!

Will pop in the weekend to see what's happened - will be very sad to see my place of former employment from my school and college days disappear!

Real shame, guess that's what happens when people stop using their local shops though...

That said, I have just been informed that there is a new shop a few doors up from it which the front has been done exactly the same (in terms of colours etc.), so might not be as bleak as first thought... maybe just a move to bigger premises or a change in management or something..?

Will see if I can get hold of Craig...

Looks like the owners have had a split, the new shop is being operated by the guy, sorry don't know his name.
Could well use some stuff, will be there in the morning, shame though.

I had a fright when I walked up from the Railway Station end of town after leaving my car at a garage for some work on Friday. I stood staring at the empty shop with the 'Closing Down - Sale Ends February 25th' sign in the window, wondering what I was going to do now? Decided to look for new furniture in the shop just up the road, when I spied..... ......"Pedal Heaven".

Lovely shiny, clean, new shop, plenty of floor space to display bikes/bits/clothing, and at the back of the shop is a fitting room (for trying on the clothing), and a fitting room (for getting the BG Bike fitting done). The bikefit room is done out all in white, and looks like the nut-sorting room from Willy Wonka, or a high-tech lab/clean room.

Talking to one of the staff, it seems that most of the employees are the same as the old shop, but it is owned/run by ONE OF the partners from the old shop. No elaboration on the cause of any split, but it certainly looks like they are in it for the long-haul, as it looks like they've made a big investment in the new shop and stock. Well worth a look, IMHO. Only drawback would be the limited choice, as it's Specialized or a handfull of other brands, but thats true of most smaller shops really.

Further bad news regarding LBS in this area is the closure of Camberley Cycles (formerly Camberley Discount Cycles) of Frimley Green. Last I heard it was due to close 'in March', so it may still be open for a closing-down bargain. Very sad, but I don't suppose that people will realise what they've lost until it's too late, and T'internet has driven out all of the small local players, and you can't buy basic spares or get anything fixed in a hurry.

I thought Cyclescheme was supporting huge numbers of LBSs?

Just been in Pedal Heaven in Fleet [01252-628575] and booked in my MTB for a silver service - pleasant guy [Des] behind the till, shop looked awesome and its opposite the council offices car park - ideal for dropping bikes off
