Need a turbo trainer for my road bike
Discussion
I use a Tacx T1435 Sirius Trainer which does just fine for me. I use it for endurance, interval and recovery ride training when I can't get out on the road (or when I only have an hour to spare).
It's quite a basic trainer but does exactly what I need it to do, it's sturdy, easy to setup and get the bike on and off, the resistance works really well, and its very well built.
Currently for sale on Chainreaction for £135, so with the cash you save you could buy a cheap rear wheel and cassette for the trainer along with a training tyre, front block and sweat band!
When I was buying (November last year) I spent a lot of time reading the forums and press reviews on trainers, and what struck me was that until you start to spend £800+ on professional level unit they are all much of a much (although there are definitely some to steer clear of).
Cycleops and Tacx seem to be the most popular and reliable on the market with a good dealer network backing them up should anything go wrong, they also have a good range of extras available to compliment the trainers.

There are apps somewhere that will allow you to calculate a power reading from a turbo provided:
1. you can link your cycle computer to your laptop/smartphone using ANT+
2. your turbo is one that's consistent enough for the app company to have thought it worthwhile to test and measure.

Budget £250 > £300 ish, Not sur what features i should be looking for but something less noisey would be good and something thats mechanically not a pain to setup !
Cheers
Any reason why you want the turbo over rollers? I made the shift this year and am very glad that I did. The rollers work your core much better, don't put undue pressure on your carbon bike and allow you to move around a bit more so you don't get a numb groin.Cheers
I have some with built in resistance and the work out just feels much better overall than a turbo IMHO.
