I know there was some talk on here a few weeks back about these but can't remember and can't search for where.

I am after some wheel nut covers for my cayman, anybody used them and got a link? Also what do you do with the locking nut?

These are perfect too even for the locking nut http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-BOXSTER-SILVER-W...

Make sure you put a little grease to prevent water ingress and make removal easier. They also come in black chrome.

That locking wheel nut is not an original Porsche, which would explain why the cover doesn't fit. The original is splined on the outside and gives an equivalent gap/diameter to the other normal nuts, hence the fact that the covers fit. Try and source replacement OE locking nuts, but what a PITA.

Pic of mine fitted just to rub it in a bit ;-)

Don't leave your discs like that BTW, they'll corrode double quick, particularly on the inside.

Cheers mate and thanks for rubbing it in with your pic Lol, funny you should say that about the discs, I posted the pic and saw it myself, I knew I was going to be in for some stick then. Believe it or not that is since Tuesday afternoon, I always take it for a spin after washing to dry the brakes but just as I was finishing it off Tuesday some friends turned up so was put in the garage without a spin, just look at it, going to go and take it out now to avoid more criticismbiggrin

Edit: Best place to get a set of locking wheel nuts from?

More Khushy BS!

Had them on my Turbo for 9 months and my 360 for 3 years. Even lapped the 'Ring with them, no problems here.

PLUS (and this is biggest factor to consider IMHO) against alloy . . . Ti binds rock solid - I know because I have been there with a 10mm motorcycle bolt - as soon as I torqued it up it seized solid and thats even after using special Ti specific grease too - 3 days later + about 10x cobalt drill bits - it was off - never again!

Not on my 360 or 997. Ferrari and Aston even spec them as standard on some models.

Maybe the Ti ones from China may be poor quality, but not the Poggipolini ones or the ones manufactured in the UK.

Definitely not going there then, thanks for the heads up, all I want is to not look at me rusty headssmile £340 is an even bigger no no. Are the locking nuts shown in my picture definitely not the original porsche ones on a cayman? as on the porsche shop site it says that the bolt covers will not fit the original wheel nuts/bolts!

Your locking bolts appear to be the same type as the ones fitted as standard on my (very recent) Cayman S........................

Thanks for confirming that, what is the betting that you can't get ruddy covers for them.

I'll go out to my car when I get home tonight to see if they're welded to the alloy wheels. They haven't been removed for 3000 miles and 10 laps of the 'Ring, I'll report back in a couple of hours! biggrin
