I need a 930 inspected near Maidenhead..

You could also do much worse than Russell Lewis at RSR Engineering. As I understand it he spent 15 years or more with OPCs at around the time your 930 would have been new and has worked as an independent ever since. Saved me from an expensive mistake with a 993 a few years ago and I think I generally know what I'm doing!. I believe he's on 01428 602911

Thanks Guys, I called this off. The seller failed to mention in his advert that he hires this car out on a daily/weekend basis along with lots of other cars. I only discovered it after googling his mobile number and subsequently discovering his website - hey presto.
I don't think that would put me off, subject to an inspection. In fact it would seem likely that they need to have the cars tip-top a) cosmetically so that hirers aren't disappointed with their dream car experience and b) mechanically so they don't break down on hirers, nor are ever not ready to be hired out.I appreciate there's a risk that it's not always treated gently when cold, but you can't be sure of how every owner's treated any other 20-30 year old car anyway. I would suspect that young tearaways are more likely to be hiring modern stuff to thrash, say M3s or GTRs. You may find another 930 that's been in private ownership for 10 years but unbeknownst to you was rented out when it was new - but maybe ignorance is bliss? Either way, a thorough inspection is certainly warranted.

I wouldn't mind so much but the description makes absolutely no mention that the car has been used for commercial purposes whatsoever.

Yeah that would put me off to be honest, i know these cars are meant to be driven but the fear of which lunatic has ragged it around would make edge a bit of caution TBHhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1986-PORSCHE-911-TURBO-9...

yes, I think it would put me off as well, even though the brain says if it checks out okay it's okay.
Porches are made to be driven hard. I absolutely thrash mine and it is nearly 8 years old without any major issues. As long as it has been serviced properly and it has been looked after properly (commercial usage, should be in a fairly good condition), it will more than likely be okay.
I think it depends on the type of driver you are and what you intend to use the car for.
I never mind buying a workhorse as long as it has been feed well and not over worked

Wouldn't worry in the slightest if the car checks out. Any 930 is going to be at least 23 years old and will likely have had numerous owners, one or more of whom could have been a complete herbert or track day legend.Unless the car in question was meant to be a low mileage collection piece it will have needed major work before now and will certainly need it in the future, so if the former has been done well and the latter is factored into your budget I don't think you have a problem.
