(VERY boring one but anyone that has experienced these will understand!....)

So,

Has anyone else got a Cafe+ drinks machine at work?

I have never come across such a useless piece of crap - we have 2 of their machines in our work area and they seem to spend more time broken down/faulty than working!

Main problem from what I can see is they have tried to fix something that isn't broken -

With the standard "Lix" type machines, you want coffee with milk and sugar, that's the button you press

But no, that's not good enough - this lot have created a touch sensitive number pad that first allows you to select coffee/tea/etc but then choose -

drink strength
amount of milk
amount of sugar

(all of the above on a grade from 1- 3)

So the pad constantly fails to accept input, the drinks regularly output around 1/4 - 1/2 cup and a lot of the time even though the cup is dispensed the machine just keeps stating "place cup"

Oh, and saving the best for last - cup dispenses, you can hear the drink being poured out but instead of in the cup it runs down through the internals and appears on the floor under the machine!

Why our facilities dept don't bin the supply company's contract I'll never know - they must be inundated with complaints from the various floors of our building!

In my experience most of those vending machines are complete crap and serve utter muck pretending to be tea or coffee.

A "proper" coffee machine (bean to cup with milk steaming all built in) costs an absolute fortune and requires pretty fastidious servicing to keep it ticking over as well. We looked at one for my office when we moved and quickly changed our minds.

The solution?

Get a kettle!

Our vend machines are run by bunzl/autobar and to be honest even the tea tastes good.

we have the coffee bean ( normal and decaf) and hot chocolate machine that requires constant attention of the receptionist to keep it in tip top condition

I believe she cleans it with chemicals every morning and tops up the milk etc
