I didn't miss it last week but I do intend to in future! One of the most tedious and irritating programs I have seen for a while. An awful lot of waffling about how wonderful everything French is and a very little cooking of mainly rather uninspiring, home style food.

I thoroughly enjoyed it too. I just hope Mr. Blanc is as nice in real life as he appears to be on TV. Having attended one of his cooking courses at Le Manoir, the general attitude/atmosphere there is fantastic - the gobs***e Ramsay should take note.

What do you expect? It's a series about French food and they're not going to feature anything that they think isn't good. And the episode was on Franche-Comte and about his family, of course it's going to feature the more rural, home-cooked food. I enjoyed the focus on the producers and their produce rather than on just the recipes, makes a nice change.

From what I've read he is a nice bloke but very shouty in the kitchen when needed. I think it comes with the terratory.

I met Ramsay a few years ago waiting for a train, I had quite a decent chat with him, came accross very well, very far removed from the TV persona.

From a chef with 2 Michelin stars cooking in his native France? I suppose I mistakenly expected something rather more, which is why I shan't bother watching it again

I can barely watch Nigel Slater due to his effeminate mincing yet as a cook he's up there with the best.

I like Raymond. I think he comes across as a genuinely affable bloke. People seem to like him, moreover you can see whether he's a 'smiler' or a 'frowner' written in the lines on his face. I love the way he takes the piss out of himself.

Slater, I'll agree, has a talent for cooking/writing (and has been a huge inspiration for me). But on telly? So wooden it was as though someone threw a chair in the room.
