Continually changing my mind, and happy to hear views on 964 vs 993 but basically decided availability will make my mind up.

The problem is I need a left hand drive version and would like to buy in UK as easier to view etc - also am I right in thinking this should mean a decent discount too?

Any advice on where, how, who to buy from appreciated? Or even better if you have a decent LHD model you want to sell post your email/phone details and we could discuss further.

Here's hoping I can sort myself out with dream toy before the spring comes...

Why would a LHD be cheaper - they are actually quite a bit more expensive on the continent than they are here, no where close to the UK depreciation whise. More so for "S" cars, not unusual to see +50kE cars.

I think it has been a while since UK imported LHD cars - not sure it is today economically viable option.

Choice wise...I can understand as there is a lot more choice there, and relatively less mileage in general.

I thought LHD was cheaper in UK due to lack of demand, being RHD country?

Also what are thoughts on 964 being more of a bargain right now than 993?

The problem as I see it with LHD is that usually the spec is alot lower or different. ie no sports seats or no sunroof (but with/without air con) etc etc.

The french and Germans are buying all our LHD stock as it's cheaper than what's for sale in their country.

Which would make me doubly wary of the condition of LHD examples for sale over here - especially ones that have been advertised for a while...

I actually prefer LHD, even in the UK, but the days when LHD was a cheaper way to buy a car are long gone. Virtually everything in LHD is more expensive than the equivalent RHD.

Japan was the last (secret) place to get a lhd bargain.. but like here over the last few years it too has since dried up.

It is, but apparently there is (or used to be) a cachet in having a LHD car, more exotic I suppose? Certainly my stepson got a beautiful LHD 968 from Japan via Porsch-apart a few years ago.

No cheap LHD 911's. All gone. As to which to buy. Go drive a few of each and see which floats your boat. But good ones are not plentifull. As to LHD and RHD does not bother me either way. My daily driver is LHD. My current 911 is RHD. My previous two were one of each. Both 993's. The LHD was very nippy the RHD was a very relaxing drive. Enjoy

If all the reasonable price LHDs are gone then how easy is it to use a RHD example on the continent?

I guess it would need new headlights and speedo changed from mph to kmph. How much would this cost?

Run my LHD 964 Turbo for 8 years now Love it, work with wide variety of Porsches daily. Find driving LHD because I am 6ft4" when going through the gears 5th is away from me and not sat under my left knee. I realise thats no relivant to every one but suits me. I have changed my Speedo head to MPH cost about £500.00 got it from America Zero miles brand new, not bothered with lights rearly take it out at night.Driving a left hooker found no issue's plenty of power for the over take, just find you position yourself different just prior to over taking. These cars LHD or RHD if you have a chance to purchase one do it, engine's so some leak rebuild!! it out last any modern Porsche Engine and pound for pound hold it's value better ( back lads some GT3's GT2's holding there own before i get pounced on ). My car is not a Show Queen does get driven thats what is there for, after the 8 years of ownership I am having her fully resprayed But won't part with it still make me Fizz every time i drive it.

Yeah well I look forward to finding one that makes me fizz, ideally a 964 but 993 are nice too at the right price, but need to find a LHD one...

Actually looked at LHD 964 C2 manual on Friday, but sold on the Saturday unfortunately... would have made a great car for me...

The search continues and any help appreciated.

Have you seen this place op?

Not sure of their reputation. I emailed them about a car on Thursday but they still haven't got back to me.

http://www.lhd911.com/

Their stock seems a bit rough and ready to be honest, but a thorough check of any car is required regardless.

I'm going to ring them in the morning, after I've rang up about the red RHD C2 that appeared in the Classifieds on Friday. smile

ETA - Just looked and the advert's gone. I'll ring'em anyway, I remember who they were.
