Yes, I know it has the aero kit but I happen to like it that way, so there!

Cheers all

The rear wheels have the wrong offset, are they Boxster items?

I also like the GT bodykit on the 996, so in agreement there also. smile

The following sentence from their description sounds pants though.

'TOP OF THE RANGE PREMIUM CARRERA 4 EDITION NOT TO BE MISTAKEN FOR THE LESS DESIRABLE C2 MODELS, Highly Desirable & Rare SPORTS MANUAL GEARBOX'

Sounds a bit like they are not quite up to speed on 996s.

tongue out And me. (Black manual C4 with Aerokit was exactly what I was looking for a few years back)

I like it, despite not being a huge fan of those wheels. If it was convenient for me and it was the spec I was after I would take it for £12k with 12 months MOT as long as a PPI gave it the all clear.

Do not like:

The aero kit at all
The wheels
The way they have gone over the whole of the interior with some kind of 'super shine' wet look plastic rubbish
The price
The mileage
The blacked out windows
The dealers description

For that moneey there are plenty of genuine, lower mileage options with private sellers.

I bought a 996 with GT3 Aerokit (which I love) back in December privately on an R plate for £12,500 and that had 90,000 so the price would certainly have enticed me as you'll have the Sale of Good Act to back you up which of course I didn't.

The differences would be that mine had had a Porshce rebuild at 65,000. Also an inch thick folder of bills etc. which hopefully you'll also have.

It also had the sports zorst (big plus for me), split rims and some suspension work.

C4 or C2 is a personal choice and nothing more - I think the way the garage have described this (and the writing in general) shows a lack of specialist knowledge. Could be a Good Thing if the docs back up the described history.

I love mine however I had a 986 before and they're better at some things in my opinion.

Try before you buy and buy on condition...as always

Did you get one and did you like it? The fact that I want black is one reason not to go to Henry, I fear it wouldn't go down well...

I think you've got to expect some nonsense in an ad from a dealer unless you are at the top end of the market. They do seem to be selling from someone's front drive I agree but the stocklist is interesting.

However the tinted glass and the wheel offsets (neither of which I had noticed before but are now bl**dy obvious) mean I'll keep looking.

Cheers all.

Would that be a negative wheel offset (had to google it and happy to display my ignorance). They do look a little odd - wheel arches look less 'full' I think?

Oh, and dark windaes - a no-no since my 540i with tints got stopped twice in France in one day then for a full half hour at Calais - all in 1 day.

I removed window tints from a Range Rover once - my tea was still warm when I finished. coffee

Still, if you lot think that tints on a 13 year old car mean it's one to avoid who am I to argue? rolleyes

No, I decided to be sensible and put my money into my business instead.

I waited a couple of years and then got the car I really wanted (a turbo, which I now have).

Nowt wrong with the C4, especially at the price they are now; at the time I was looking, it would have been over 20k for a car similar to the one you described.

I wouldn't be confident of any aftersales issues being sorted from someone trading from home.

I think it's a fair price from a dealer, if it were a private sale a reasonable price would be £1k-£2k lower fro a 1999 car with 100k+ miles.

Black is a sought after colour and the GT3 aero kit would add to the desirability (for some... I like it!).

The wheels look like genuine Posrche GT3 style split rims, but check carefully as the offset on the rears does look weird - they may be cheapy copies with the wrong offset.
