SD1 convertible, intriuging!
Discussion
I remember seeing an open-top SD1 at Glastonbury Festival in the mid-nineties being used as a crew hack for getting around the site. Theirs was still a four-door, and had clearly been created with the use of an angle-grinder and little else. No windscreen, no pillars, no boot, no hood. With the hatch gone it was effectively a pick-up too. I hate to think what would have happened if they had opened all the doors at once though...
It looks like a Top Gear challenge car: Can you make a Ferrari Daytona spyder style convertible for £5,000?
The wheelbase looks too short, the roof looks like someone's slapped on old tent on top, the roll over protection (which is probably been added for body bracing too), detracts from the convertible look and the boot area is out of proportion as it's far too large.
The potential for a decent "Daytona-esque" convertible is there with the Rover SD1, if a bit more thought went into the planning of the design and the execution of the work.

Not sure intriguing is the word I'd use, a few others spring to mind.
I'm sure they've engineered the shell / T-bar properly to retain the strength, especially considering that, IIRC, when a customer originally had a full length webasto-type roof fitted just after the SD1 was released, they wondered why the handling was badly affected. The roof provided a bit more rigidity than had been realised
