Sega Saturn Owners

Did anyone else here buy this true failure of a console? I bought mine when the PS1 had just come out I think, as you got loads more games with it for the same price... I later bought a PS1.

Anyway, I'm after some recommendations for games which are still playable, despite the graphics. I've tried a few, and some I just find unplayable now (Sega Rally, etc).

One very good game which we're playing now (yes, I'm that sad) is Loaded. You don't really need the graphics, and it's very playable!

I bought one last year on ebay with about 20 games for nostalgic reasons. I've only played it a few times as the graphics were so bad it gave me a headache. I found running it through a 14" TV helped. My favourite game is virtua fighter 1, it also came with VF2 but this wasn't so good.

Sonic R was brilliant. I sold that a while ago. Sonic Jam is the one I want at the moment - it was basically just walking around looking at Sonic stuff on an island, but strangely addictive!

I bought my Saturn off eBay last year when I couldn't find my old one... I had it, put it in the loft, and now we can't find it... Odd!

Haven't played any of these for 13 years now (!), so the graphics may well be shocking now, but BITD my favourites were :

Sega World Wide Soccer '98
Panzer Dragoon
and my favourite, Fighters Megamix.

A lot of people used to rave about Nights, but I never played it.

I had a Saturn and the graphics were terrible even way back then. I only bought it for Sega Rally which was superb though.

The Dreamcast was actually a very good console, way ahead of its time and did not deserve its premature death imo. It had some killer games.

Very true, I remember I got it a few days after it came out. I only got a few games for it though as it soon died a death. It's in a wardrobe somewhere at home all still boxed up.

The dreamcast was cool, the online type thing it had was wierd, well compaired to now.

StreetFighter Zero 3 - with the pad and 6 buttons on the front too, it was the best incarnation of the game on any platform IMO.

Athlete Kings - Brilliant game, although I'm a huge fan of any button bashing game.

Back in the day, Sega Rally was awesome. Me and a mate would play for hours, with mandatory Marlboro breaks

Nope. I learnt my lesson after getting a Sega Game Gear because it had the colour screen. All the other kids had a Game boy and I felt left out, so I followed the crowd from then and got the playstation instead.

This, Virtua Cop and Sonic R are all good choices.

I also liked the Nascar series like Daytona USA. Panzer Dragoon was pretty good.

Yup,

Bought one on the launch day, or 'Saturnday' (what with it being a Saturday) back in '95 just to play Daytona at home on my telly Had some quality games (mainly the ports of the Sega arcade games of the day) but the PS really stole the limelight thanks to Sony having a clued up marketing department.

Still got it somewhere in the garage but it's not seen the light of day for a few years....
