Hi All,

Need to paint over some welds and body work joins.

Can I just paint over the welds, or is there a proper way of sealing them to stop them rusting etc.

Googled it- seems like I can get some kind of Automotive spray which is elasticated. Also, some guys use a kind of silicon sealant on to the welds?

I want it to look neat and tidy as its visible.

Thanks,
HF

Cheers- is that similar/the same as Red Oxide stuff for chasis and bare metal?

sealant on a roll cage makes me wonder what its trying to hide... I've seen scruits ask for it to be scrapped off to inspect the weld... equally ive seen some dodgy looking welding not noticed as its hiding in plain sight!!

Agreed to the above. Parts were left exposed, past scrutineering, and now time to get it looking good again.

Cheers,

Yup- mine had welds on it. Was then painted over. Scrutineers then demanded it be stripped back to prove it was welds and not filler. Note to self- always clean up weld seams!

Why this fixation with ROPS welds?
The OP was about body welds.

This about road cars, but i can't see a scrute objecting, can you?
