GT2 suspension overhaul at CG
Discussion
Just sat working whilst Chris at Center Gravity works on the GT2, fitting new front struts and setting the car up to be a little less neutral at the front. And he's kindly fitting me an oil level sensor which packed up last week - typical GT2 / turbo - their Oil level sensor turned out to be 50% more expensive than a typical 996's! why?
The car looks mint in the workshop with an old black track day porsche next to it on the next ramp (964 maybe)....
I really don't want to have to flog this car!!
Anyway... GEO needs to be spot on as apparently the snow is coming so it might be getting a work out on the trip home!

I was thinking of having a geo setup at CG on my GT3 but was a surprised at the cost. I'll be intrested to see what you think of the outcome and whether it its worth it.
The thread will probably now be deluged with Chris' happy customers (of which I am one) but the cost is not just for a geo - Chris will never just apply factory settings and send you on your way, he is an utter perfectionist. He will talk to you about your use of the car, what you want to achieve from the geo, perform a full examination of your suspension components and tyres (he even noted that mine had mismatching manufacturing dates!), do a road test and then set about performing the geo with far finer tolerances than you'll get elsewhere. And, he won't let your car leave the workshop until both he and yourself are happy with the results.
It's the difference between going to Saville Row for a bespoke suit and buying one off the peg although, in my own experience, I have actually saved money by using Chris due to the thoroughness of his approach resulting in changing only the components that required it. He will also spend considerably more time on your car so on a simple per hour cost basis I would suggest he is good value for money.

Depends if you understand how it works. If you don't then it's OK value. If you do, then you're likely to have your favourite values for camber, toe etc and in which case many companies in the UK will get those values dialed in the suspension for you for a lot less money.
Having been to see Chris a couple of weeks back, the stuff you can learn about your car and how everything works in conjunction with other bits, and just why you apply different toe/camber/caster/all the other stuff to reach a desired setup is worth the £300 alone. The fact you end up with a better handling car at the end is almost incidental.
Seriously though, my 997.2S now feels like a different machine and for the better. It's a shame I have to stay within warranty else I'd be happy to give him an open cheque book and make the car really come alive!

I'd second that so far...as I've been to him a few times over the last 12 months.
First time for the intial geo and fast road setup, second time in autumn for the 'urgent' bits that needed sorting (rear near side leaking damper, so both replaced, delaminated bushes, couple of other bits and bobs along with altered ride height then and re did the geo)
Front dampers today, so basically underneath it will be well matched up. Another geo / alignment check and some adjustments we've discussed to give it a bit more front end feel at speed.

If it's LHD and has an alcantara style dash board it'll be Matt from Tracktoys' 964, who works alongside Chris.I really don't want to have to flog this car!!

bingo!!!! or do it yourself. If you do, then you're likely to have your favourite values for camber, toe etc and in which case many companies in the UK will get those values dialed in the suspension for you for a lot less money.
I'd agree with those statements, however,if you dont know the car inside out or dont have the knowledge then its good to go to someone with experience of setting these cars up for various different applications.
I ddnt actually come for the geo, only for the dampers - I feel happier giving repeat business knowing that they have worked on it before.
