Is it just me that thinks such things are gross / crass / repulsive / disgusting etc?

There are a couple of threads about such things at the moment, any establishment that offers such a "challenge" to any idiot to take them up on it has to be somewhere to steer a mile away from shirley?

yes

It seems to be some macho right of passage to cram 40ozs of some tasteless part of a cow down your gullet nowadays, not for me thanks.

So? You're obviously not going to do it, so why worry about it? I'm sure the way you feel about it will have absolutely zero impact on whether someone else wants to give it a go.

No, you don't get it, do you?
This is PH. How on earth are you meant to feel warm and fuzzy about your life without denigrating the things that others enjoy, but that you feel are beneath you?

Exactly.

Don't like it? Don't want anyone else to like it.

If this is in partial reference to the Man vs. Food challenges on the TV, some of the food on that show looks incredible and I'd be the first through the door tomorrow morning if I was anywhere near any one of those establishments.

I'm sure there are some equally brilliant places in this country.

I find even that when i'm when starving and slightly drunk and order an xl pizza I regret it after a couple of slices.

You can like what you want (X factor, TOWIE, wing'ed horse of chav tat) but expect to be judged on the basis of taste / lack-of.

Gluttony - one of the seven deadly sins.

Call me old fashioned but I am with the OP on this one.

However, I wouldn't try and stop anyone else (over)indulging.
