Help

May love hate relationship with the tuscan continues (lucky love it most of the time.....!)

On the way back from work I got stuck in some traffic, the digital water temp reading hit about 106^C and steam came out of the front by the water filler cap. The analogue temp gauge stayed at "normal" temp in the middle ish, and the cooling fans didn't kick in......! Once I started moving, thankfully quickly, the temp went back down to about 88^C as you'd expect.

Has anyone come across this before? I find it odd that the two gauges read different temperatures.... presumably the digital one uses a different sensor? Do the cooling fans link to the gauge, and is this why they don't come on.....?

Any suggestion welcome.... its these little things that pee me off 'cause its such a hasel to go to the dealer to be told its just >>>>!!!

Hi, fans kick in around 92 I cant remember in what order. If yours dont then I suggest you check the fuses as per manual (if prob post reply and I will look at mine ). If fuses ok I would get dealer to give once over as no way should temp reach over 100 without fans. Of course it could be a faulty sensor. I have had water/steam once, but that was just overfilling. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Same situation 3 weeks ago, water temp soared to 117 degrees & no fan kick-in. Fuses OK. Dealer changed the sensor & now no probs. Suggested could be the result of an air lock in the system, that's why the blue cap is supposed to be impossible to turn! Suggest you avoid standing traffic for a while.

Fans are controlled by the ECU. Water will come out the filler cap if you overfill it. If the fans are not coming on get it checked.

I was waiting to board a ferry last year when mine blew! Frightened me to death!

managed to pus it onto the ferry then called the breakdown service in Holland. Turned out to be the relay so they just wired the fans live with a switch hanging from the ignition
