Can friends play on opposing teams? Multiplayer Halo 3???

When playing Halo online, if you and friend (sat in the same room on 2 controllers, 1 x-box live account, 1 player as a guest) play a multiplayer game, 99% of the time you are on the same team. Every now and then u get put on different teams. This is much better, can u set it up so that this is the default set-up, or somehow manipulate it so you end up on different teams?

Not really no, mainly because of the amount of cheating that goes on, the guest will try and get on the other team, then run off somewhere to repeatedly get killed by the main account, boosting the stats of the main player and generally resulting in a lot of grief from both teams. I know this isn't your intention, but you can see why they'd try and prevent it where possible.

The only way to do it would be to setup the 'guest' with a proper XBox Live Gold account, have you join a match and then get them to join your game, this may result in them being placed on the opposite team. It's unlikely to work if you're in a party though as it will usually try and place party members on the same team.
