S Peddlebox adjustment / move

Could it be possible to refit the peddlebox in the wrong position? i also seem to struggle using the peddles where they are and it does look as if there is plenty of space for them to move forward. Matt from sebrings can drive his and he's 6ft 7" im 6ft 3" and cant even get in or out!! mine recently had a full body off restoration, that's why i ask.

hmmmmmm not good then.however the literature ive read said the factory offered pedal box options - so what was it they did ?

Is it worth us all doing a measurement on our cars from a constant point to the pedals, perhaps the top of the steering column, to the brake pedal to see if there is variation? Or is it the torso / leg length ratio which is the issue as suggested already....
good idea would be to run the tape from pedals then under the drivers seat to the the rear bulkhead behind the seats.that should be a fixed point on all the cars (or if not then at least most of the cars in the same series eg s1, s2, s3 etc)

Much appreciated!! I've just fitted my 11" steering wheel and now can get in the car, whilst doing this i found a Steve Heath owners manual behind the seat!! in there it states that S1's before Feb 1988 had an extra hole drilled into the brake/clutch pedal so the pistons could be relocated, moving the pedals rearwards without having to remove the peddlebox. later S1's had this option removed but later S2's/S3's had peddlebox adjustment as an option. Steve also says in the book that there is no reason why an extra hole cannot be drilled through the peddle to give adjustment as long as the piston is fitted square. Mine is a May 1988 so it looks like i will be getting the drill out at the weekend!! This manual is absolutely full of great information on how to repair leaks and fix lots of the problems associated with these cars. My favourite part so far is how he says the seat mounts are likely to fail in a crash and the RAC recommend they are modified..........................Awesome!!!

Why not give Mat a call? You will find he's now independent as Mat Smith Sports Cars Limited in Downham Market. You will find his contact details if you google that on't t'internet. He's on holiday for the next 10 days, so try him early October. He will know. I am only 6 ft, and am on the limits of seat travel etc, yet he can drive my car (Chimaera) with no trouble, so it has me somewhat puzzled I have to say.
Finally, I don't know if the arrangement is similar, but on the Chim each pedal has a locking nut behind the arm that allows you to move the actual pedals themselves backwards and forwards. Just release the locking nut and turn each pedal in turn. Worth a peek?
PS pedal, not peddle.....peddle is something Del boy and Rodney do, but from your profile pic I think you might just be related them!!
