Looking to source record player - any decent websites/fora?

I must confess I have never been a vinyl junkie.
Most of my music collection is on cassette, CD or moreso MP3.
I love being able to have my entire music collection on an iPod classic in the glovebox of my car.
A couple of mates love their vinyl collections, one has a couple of Dansette players, and we do have great nights over a few beers listening to songs from our youth (80s).
I have recently agreed a swap deal with a mate, he gets my old lawn bowls
and I inherit his vinyl collection - roughly 100 7", 50 12".
So I have decided to start my own collection, but obviously need something to play them on.
Are Gumtree/Ebay the best options for kit? I don't want to spend a fortune, maybe looking at £50 tops.
