Have a couple of shanks in the freezer and would like to do something different to the normal roasting.

Any recipes you like ?

They're good when done in a slow cooker.

I helped a neighbour cook some for his dinner party recently.

Beef stock, balsamic (100ml), red wine, garlic, onion, celery, carrot, thyme.

Brown shanks, add to pot with liquids, cook at 130c for 90 mins, then add veg and cook for another 90 at a slightly lower heat.

Rest the shanks for 15 mins in foil whilst reducing the sauce to a glossy consistency.

I'd be eating it with celeriac mash with butter and thyme or some crisp roasts.

I do enjoy a good lamb shank in the morning.
