Considering a change of body. My “Brick”* is coming up to five years old. Actually it was secondhand, and from the serial number I would guestimate it is actually at least seven.
Of course, there’s nothing much wrong with it, but I did purchase with a view to it staying with me for five years, and crucially, the sensors have moved on from 2003/4 design, haven’t they?
So to fund the new purchase my first thought would be sell. In fact sell, sell, sell. I have identified three lenses which I might also let go, one being a DX format anyway, one which was just a whim purchase, and one which is usually left behind and won’t be significantly long on an FX body. Well, that’s no great problem, Fleabay here we come.**
However - should I keep these? The body has not reached 60,000 actuations yet - so it’s still got three quarters of its life left, on average!
And also, there are a few things I could do.
One thought is whip out the sensor filter and use the camera for IR. Seems like a fashion that has waned. And I suppose I wouldn’t use it much. But anyone done this and is it really easy to do?
The other temptation is to take the 10.5mm and hack off the petals so that it will give a full fisheye frame on an FX. Seems a pity since I bought it new, it’s still in mint condition and one of the secondary reasons for moving to FX is to get my wide angle lens back!
So has anyone else done that? - I know various other fora have comments about doing this.....

Yup. Low light noise, colour rendition, full frame, occasional video, full use of wide-angle (17-35mm, instead of effective 25-50mm), better auto focusing (depending on settings the 70-200mm can be a bit hit or miss!), two card slots, larger rear screen, occasional benefit of Live View, quiet mode and self-cleaning sensor.

But I have got a bout of NAS building up, I can feel it from the Amazon email I had yesterday suggesting they had slashed the soon-to-be-old-model to a price level that will force the secondhand ones at Grays within reach!!!
