I know it's not the most exciting or expensive lens in the world but this just arrived this morning!
Read lots and lots and lots about the different fixed F/2.8 lenses and settled on this after reading lots of very positive reviews and can't wait to get out at the weekend and see how it (and me!) performs!
If only i knew how much this photography lark sucks you in after such a short while!! But loving it.

I have a mates wedding reception on Saturday that i shall probably take a few pics at and a day out at the coast on Sunday so should get a few good shots hopefully!!jimmy156 said:

From what i've read this is the pick of the 2.8 standard zooms (other then canons 17-55 2.8, but thats nearly £800!) so congrats on your purchase.
It's the non VC version Jimmy. I read the same as you that apart from the Canon 17-55 which is way out of my budget that this is the next best thing so hopefully it should be a wee cracker. From what i've read this is the pick of the 2.8 standard zooms (other then canons 17-55 2.8, but thats nearly £800!) so congrats on your purchase.
A shout out to Warehouse Express for great service too. Ordered yesterday at 5pm with free delivery and came at 8:20 am this morning!!

Great purchase, looking forward to seeing some shots from it.
I stumped for the Canon 17-55 f2.8 about 18 months ago, and have not looked backed since. Stopped down to around f4 - f5, it is super sharp. Perfect for what I want it for and a great focal range for a walkaround on a crop body camera.

And Simpo,i don't know about the Nikon lens but for me only being used to the kit lens and the 50mm F/1.8 it seems big and heavy!
Playing around earlier initial impressions seem good. Will post a couple of pics up tomorrow.

Really loving this lens. Very sharp at both ends it seems and the build quality is surprisingly very good for an affordable lens...coming from the kit lens that is!

The photographer could be a lot better but i am pretty happy with the quality of the above pics and i think the sharpness even compares to my 50mm F/1.8 at times.
In other words i love it!
