Good band filmographies?
Discussion
Really enjoyed Foo Fighters: Back and Forth, but I'm a big fan of the band which helps.
I would say it's as much of a Dave Grohl docu as a Foo Fighters one, as in it starts just as he joins Nirvana and he's the only member who's life outside of the band is really shown, but he really IS the Foo Fighters.
I also like 24 hour party people, OK it's a semi-true film based on the whole 80's / 90's Manchester Music scene rather than a Band Filmography.

Kings of leon

Enjoyed both, then being a big fan makes that easy.

I still absolutely love 'Meeting People is Easy, a Film About Radiohead'.
It showed the band as they went on tour following the release of 'OK Computer'. Lots of snippets of the band performing live, in the studio and during sound checks (often playing bits of songs that wouldn't emerge for years), combined with footage of the seemingly endless round of interviews they had to do. It gives a very real sense of the pressure the band suddenly found themselves under. The way the film was put together is just beautiful IMHO.

Not so much biography but fabulous social history of the genre at the time.
Heartworn Highways, is a documentary film by James Szalapski whose vision captured some of the founders of the Outlaw Country movement in Texas and Tennessee in the last weeks of 1975 and the first weeks of 1976.
If you're at all into Americana, it's just great to watch and listen to. Look out for the HUGE jug of Jack Daniel's that goes round the table at lunch!
Also high on my list of rockumentaries, and not strictly a biog, is
Festival Express, a 2003 documentary film about the eponymous 1970 train tour across Canada taken by some of North America's most popular rock bands, including The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band and Delaney & Bonnie & Friends.
The film combines live footage shot during the 1970 concerts, as well as footage aboard the train itself, interspersed with present-day interviews with tour participants sharing their often humorous recollections of the events.
