One of my workplace weaknesses is that I don't always feel I've got a handle on what work I need to do on a day-to-day, week-to-week, etc basis.

Does anybody know of any tools/applications out there which can help me.

I know I could simply get a diary and write down what I need to do in it each day but I'm sure there must be something more scientific out there!!

I rely heavily on Outlook - categorising emails with colours and flagging them for attention.

If the work request didn't come from an email, i just write my self one and categorise it - It works for me at the moment.

I suppose it really depends on the type of work you do, i'm in the process of building an Microsoft Access database which will quickly show me whats outstanding, when its due and whose working on it etc

Thanks for that MX.

I have certainly considered using the Calendar function on Outlook a lot more than I currently do, blocking out periods of time to work on certain projects, etc. And obviously this would tell me if these clash with meetings, etc.

I have seen MS Project but I think this is a little detailed for me.

I've been using Astrid recently. Find it useful to just chuck stuff on there, no need to make comprehensive notes, just reminders. That way I keep track of all the things I need to look at / think about / get back to people on. Plus I have the app on my phone so I can put down stuff to do tomorrow if I remember in the evening for example.

Astrid.com, no link other than usage.

You can use the Tasks part of Outlook, it allows you to group tasks and show a timeline for them, set due dates etc.
