Here I am sat at home watching Underworld on Sky+ and drinking through a bottle of red, how much does everyone else drink in the evenings?

I'm down to maybe one small bottle of beer a week if I'm not going out.

Depends on how your body deals with the drink. Some days I can drink for hours and still appear sober. Other days after 4 cans of Stella I am falling over

I have a mate who can drink a bottle and a half of whisky and still seem sensible

This is true, but just generally sat at home. I can do a bottle of wine no worries but the throw a couple of JD's in (not wanting to open another bottle of wine) and I start feeling it.

I try not to drink during the week but on a night when I'm not working the next day I'll probably have a fridge pack of Stella.

Varies a lot - if I have wine in the house I usually put away around half a bottle in a sitting, otherwise maybe a couple of beers or nothing.

Rarely at home. Perhaps the odd glass of wine with dinner. Occasionally one or two more in the evening on a Saturday night. Other than that, no, not really.

This is a debate/question that prompts a wide variety of replies.

Me, I've "tested" 4 bottles of wine tonight, settled on one and the rest will go for cooking. Maybe a large brandy to finish. Thats a school night.

Weekends, two decent bottles of red between me and the Mrs plus a couple of generous spirits.

If the bottle's open, the bottle's empty.

I try not to open a bottle if it's just me frown

About the same.

New years resolution is not to drink in the week and so far sticking to it. Love a bottle of good red on Friday and Saturday night though.

On average; 20 cans of lager per week.

This is pretty much me too... I would love to say I could only drink at weekends but working shifts I rarely have weekends at home (apart from this weekend, strangely). I try and save drinking for rest days but it never pans out.

I'm quite surprised by how much some people who have replied here seem to drink, especially on a work night! I usually have one or two glasses of wine on the weekend, a big night out (once every 6 weeks or so) would be 5-7 drinks and that's more than enough. On a work night 2 drinks would be plenty- I'm a teacher so a hangover/smelling of booze would be a big no no. I pretty much ruined my NYE by drinking far too much rum far too quickly so I'm being extra careful as a result. To be honest I can take it or leave it with drink, makes it much easier to stay healthy and I'm not overweight either, though I love my food.

Too much.

During the week, i tend not to drink.

I work long hours at the weekend, so fri, sat and sun nights, usually involve at least 8 beers every evening.

I find it difficult to avoid the beer as my mrs works away every weekend. It isn't fun too return home on sunday after a ten hour shift to an empty house.

I've cut down considerably but don't like being a pisshead, my gym and martial arts training have gone completely out the window the last two months.

ah well.

last year I was drinking a (strong) G&T + bottle of wine + (mabe brandy) per evening. Mrs AF was almost matching me Far too much. We have cut out spirits and now down to 1/2-3/4 bottle of wine over dinner between us, only 4 bottles in the recyling this week.

We feel/sleep much better and can now manage the recycling bin each fortnight. smile
