Leg room in e type jag
Discussion
As with all these things depends how long you are in the leg and your build
I'm a relatively slim 6ft 3" just about fit a series 1 but am fine in both Series 2 and 3
Dependent upon weather and how often the top is up the other question you need to ask is over headroom. So for instance I find the series 1 (coupe) really uncomfortable (passenger side) whereas in 2 & 3 I'm fine, I'm guessing headroom maybe less in a convertible ?

Can an e-type's pedals be easily modified to help those people
with a longer leg?
No - I don't think it would be a practical proposition for all sorts of reasons. If you could somehow shorten the brake/clutch/accelerator stroke you might gain an inch or so but not enough to make any real difference. With S1 brakes you really need all the stroke you can get!with a longer leg?
Jaguar "solved" the problem themselves by cutting "scallops" in the bulkhead behind the seats so they could be pushed back a couple of inches. Perhaps, if your legs are really long, you would be better off running?
when Tony gets here he'll tell you and probably post the photo of a big bloke in an E-Type
fitting comfortably into cars can be about body or leg length
it can be surprising how much or little room some cars have, there used to be a guy that sold smart city cars and he'd put that he had plenty of room in the car, I think he was 6' 9"

SIII will be on a long wheelbase.
I suppose a S2 2+2 will have as much room as a SIII, or maybe the SIII roadster has the most room of all in the front as it has no back seats?
Early 'flat floor' cars will have less room, then later.
Phil, editor of Classic Cars, had to have his early 3.8 coupe modified (at some expense) to make it comfortable, and he's only 6ish foot.

As others have commented, its not so much your height as you leg length and sitting height.
I'm 6' on a good day.
But in a S1 or S2 I find it easier to sit up straight and look over the head rail than to squish down and look under it. I can't sensibly sit in a S1 fixed head.
The S3 I've driven had a sunroof fitted so if I cocked my head a little towards the middle of the car I could drive it with my head in the recess in the roof. In the S3 I could sit in the rear behind the drivers seat in my position (squashed down obviously).
Of course it all depends on how much you want to fit in. I've managed to squeeze into the passenger seat of a D on the race track, I didn't have a full face helmet and didn't have time to go and grab any sun glasses so had to keep down below the screen. Not comfortable but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

This man driving mine was 6' 7" and his son a tad over 6'. I don't think you'll have a prayer of being comfortable for long distances, but like he in the photo, for a short blast it'll be fine!

Incidentally, the flat floor model (which this one is) and the later cars from February 1962 onwards are all alike in terms of height from seat to roof/hood. It was only to enable people with bigger feet to drive too, although the seat does go back an inch or two further too.
ETA Some of you seem to be confusing the coupés with the 2+2. I reckon you'd fit the latter alright in view of the increased headroom.

I have an S3 and find that I can only drive with confidence if I wear narrow shoes (my feet aren´t large - 7 or 8), If I wear trainers with typically wide soles and heal & toe then my left foot will hit my right (on the brake and rotated) as I press the clutch down.

Perhaps the spacing is different on a S3 compared to a S1? I used to race an early 3.8 S1 OTS in South Africa and simply added a piece to the accelerator pedal "pad" so that I didn't have to rotate my right foot so far. The relative heights of the brake and accelerator pedals also have to be set just right. I have size 10s and it worked for me!I have an S3 and find that I can only drive with confidence if I wear narrow shoes (my feet aren´t large - 7 or 8), If I wear trainers with typically wide soles and heal & toe then my left foot will hit my right (on the brake and rotated) as I press the clutch down.
Not my favourite thread on Ph....
My e type is a 63 Coupe. I've had it 6 years and been making steady progress on restoration, I bought it with no interior and as such I've never sat in it, or any other e type.
I'm 6 foot 3 inches with size 12 feet. Dumpy short legs, inside leg is 32 inches, but long body.
Its not looking like its going to be a comfy car for me.

As Lowdrag says, you can modify the seat to get more space. My e type is a 63 Coupe. I've had it 6 years and been making steady progress on restoration, I bought it with no interior and as such I've never sat in it, or any other e type.

I've also seen some E-Types with "humps" in the roof to allow more head room, but I think that was for helmets. It wouldn't raise the head rail so being able to see through the windscreen might prove a problem.
You might want to check out the seating options before doing the interior.
