Composition Examples please - good 3rds, lead in lines etc

Hi All,

On Wednesday lunchtime of next week I am doing a small informal workshop for complete beginners on photo composition. The work "photo club" has some new members who have basically got snap camera's and enthusiasm but no other ideas so I volonteered to give them some basic composition ideas.

So, by example I want to take them through thirds, the lead in and lead out lines, light and dark balance, movement leading into the frame, and probably some odds and ends like headroom and suchlike.

With that in mind, whilst I have a range of photos that demonstrate much of the above I don't want te workshop to be me discussing my own photos as that just seems a bit "off". I will be asking the participants to submit a few but was hoping you kind folk on here would be able to give me some examples of your own that I could show next week.

I can guarantee that they will not be used for any commercial purpose and will only be on my laptop, they won't get near the corporate network or be distributed to anyone.

Title underneath is probably easiest. Glad you like them; I don't really 'do' landscapes but in NZ it is hard not to... they will probably play complete havoc with any rules

Your work is very nice - could I perhaps have some bigger copies of the following 1024 or 1600px would be plenty:

Hi Mark, lovely work.

Could I have a copy of "Whitby Pier Long Exposure" please - its somehwere I know well as my Grandfather still lives there - he proposed to my Gran on that pier in 1945 after piloting a Lancaster throughout the war.

A Sliver of Sun At Filey and Scarborough North Bay Sunrise would be much appreciated - can't see any surfers at the North bay!? - maybe they are getting a cuppa in the Cafe

I surfed year around in Scarborough, one memorable Christmas day with snow falling, I paddled out with a foil package of mince pies for the chaps in there, one chap brought a bottle of single malt and some plastic cups and we bobbed about having an alternative Christmas dinner!

Yes, the sea defences are finished, now they're starting near the Spa in the South Bay. As I live directly above the Spa I suppose I should be happy they're trying to safeguard the cliffs but the plans look bloody ugly.
