yep 48 r's are on the list.
we run kumho's at the mo but are looking to go list 1B for next year ( includes the Kumhos) that will make it easier for other competing TVRs to come and have a play without buying specific tyres...
i could still run Kumho's as they are list 1B. but erm no....

I asked this question on the main forum a while ago - but why not the Kumhos?
(I need to choose a List 1b tyre for the Scimitar I use for hillclimbs, and the Ecsta V70A is the one I was planning to go for)
48s are great on the Elise which is a very light car.
On the Noble PZero corsas are preferred, and thats probably a bit nearer the weight you are talking about. Not 100% sure they are on the list, but they are road legal track tyres so presumably are.
Neither are any good at all in standing water. Ok in the wet though (well better than expected, not actually good).

On the tasmin the Kumho's dont seem to work that well.
they only seem to work well for the first 3 heat cycles, and they also seem to go off very quickly during a session.
For example on an old ish set at anglesey at the weekend i could get about 6 laps out of them before the lap times started to climb and the grip fall away.
They are also possibly the worst tyres in the wet. Standing water in a track tyre is never going to be good, but on these you can end up anywhere..
THe BMW guys have more experience and i think they work them better. We run the hard compund to so maybe a softer compound may be better.
They do need some heat in them, but i've found the best way to get them to work is to push hard right from the off...
for example at Anglesey i could put the best lap time in after 3-4 laps from cold. the only trouble with that is that they would start to drop off after about 6.
we're currently running 205/50/15 all round, the turbos are using
225/50/15 front and 225/50/16 rear.
Im going to try a set of 225/45/15's next.
I've done 2 sets this year ( 4 events) and need a new set for the next round.
just dont point these anywhere near water as you could end up anywhere..

Thanks for that - I'd be using 205/50 - 15 front and 225/50 - 15 on the back.
Standing water is seldom a problem on the hills, although you do get running water at Wiscombe from time to time...but as I have to drive to events a certain amount of wet grip is necessary.
A good bet to buy cheap at the end of this season for next year's use? Or do they go off over the winter?
Nick.
