Don't use it.

Buy English cold pressed rapeseed oil and support a domestic business instead.

From the back of the bottle it says it has 'half the saturated fat of olive oil, contains high balanced levels of omega 3, 6 + 9 oils, and is also a good source of natural vitamin E'.

If you like the taste (a bit 'mustardy') - and I do - what's not to like about it?

My parents live in Umbria and the farmer who lives opposite them produces a rather fine olive oil, this year my dad went to the press with him, so that tends to give a reasonable idea of what you are getting!

It's great for Salad dressings, as MC says it's a little mustard like, I also think it's a little nutty (but so am I!). I'm yet to ditch the olive oil but pound for pound you can get high quality rapeseed oil very cheap.

The same brand that i purchased from Borough Market a few years back for £10 for a small bottle is £2 in my local Sainsbury's for double the amount!

For cooking and general use I use olive oil though- but give it a try!

I think Rapeseed oil is supposed to be healthier than Olive oil.

Not sure where to get the cold pressed stuff though--never seen it mentioned as that in the supermarkets.

The brand I use is called 'Mellow Yellow' (arf). I can't remember the exact price paid, but it was certainly less than £5 for a 500 ml bottle from Waitrose.

Someone bought us some cold pressed rapeseed oil in plain, lemon and smoked varieties as a gift last year. I thought it was nice, though I would buy it in addition to olive oil.
