My 4 year old daughter is getting more confident on her bike with stabilisers. She is now too big for the seat that we have on my bike.
Do you think she would be OK on a Tag Along. Or because she is still using stabilisers should we forget it just now?

She'll be fine, I used to take my daughter out on a tag along before she could ride without stabilisers.

The type we had was an actual full bike, with stabilisers, that then fastened to any bike via a rod that connected to the front of the kids bike and the seat post on the adult bike

We had two for a number of years, bought from Halfords, and passed them on when our kids were too old.

Worked really well

I've now moved onto a Trail Gator when out with my daughter and she gets a tired, once set up really easy to use.

Just a thought Ross, if you're after a tag along I've got one in the shed you can have cheap. smile

Watch out for speed bumps... I managed to drop Fer Jr by trying to bump over one and had it pivot under me.

Still a great way to share a cycle.

Hi Ross,

From what you've said about her using her own bike she should be fine if she can reach the bars and pedals comfortably. You've just got to bear in mind that speeds will be higher as you'll be doing most of the work (you can sense when they're not pedalling and it's usually when going uphill!)

Over time I've used a variety of options for getting my two sons to nursery/school. My eldest has been riding on a tag along for about a year, so he was four when he started out. As a trial I bought a second hand Trek mountain train 6 speed that attaches to the bike via a 'hitch' on the seatpost which pivots but gives plenty of support.

Due to the way it is fixed the bike and the tagalong act as one, so you control the lean angle as the child is not really heavy enough to alter things. As a result I think it helped my son improve his balance and certainly strengthened his legs for longer rides on his own bike.

Regards,
Chris
