Optimate problem

When I bought my Griff it had an OptiMate wired in. I'm sure at first the light would go to green once connected for a while, but I'm now not sure.

Of late this has only gone to yellow, but the battery was quite old so I assumed that was the reason.

I have fitted a new battery, tests on the old one proved it had had it, only 135 amps.

With the new battery installed and the car on the OptiMate for the last two days the light is still only on yellow.

Is this the norm?
Does the drain from the immobiliser and the radio prevent it from going to green?
Could there be a fault with the OptiMate that could have cooked the battery?

My optimate definately switches to green, straight away when the car has been in regular use, and then from yellow to green when not been used for some time. No issues with using it with doors locked and alarm switched on

Have you given it good drive/tested the new battery to check it is actually fully charged, or indeed is being charged correctly? Maybe the accumate is showing the correct reading?

I had my battery on the Tuscan changed last year and even after a 200 mile run, on connecting the Accumate for the first time the yellow light stayed on for over a day before it went green. Can only assume that the battery was not fully charged when fitted.Normally it goes from yellow to green within 5 minutes.

I thought optimate's also "cycled" doing a partial discharge and re charge as well?

I had an alternator fail last eyar and my battery went totally flat...even using an optimate...the battery would not revocer properly...whilst optimates are good...I dont think they give everlasting battery life.

My battery went flat recently - it took about 4 days on yellow before it got back to green.

Persevere.

I found that it was a good sign that something was left switched on like the interior light or the boot light. It would eventually go green however.
May be you have something draining it?

Maybe the new battery was only partly charged as a result of which the accumate might do the conditioning bit for a while. Hopefully the green light is on now though.

My battery on the Griff is good and the charging system is working as it should,the same with my bike,and every time i connect the optimate,it always goes to yellow for a while before it turns green,can be a few hours or ten mins,i dont think there is an issue.

After 5 days on the Optimate II and a blast this afternoon the Optimate is still on yellow.

I've connected a Ctek 3600 to the battery which I use on another vehicle and within minutes it switched from charging to cycle mode.

I will investigate the wiring between the Optimate in the boot and the battery tomorrow, but suspect the Optimate is probably US.

Mine sometimes stayed yellow for days but eventually change to green. I've now bought one of the new high tech ones and haven't a clue what it's doing, it's better than watching the Blackpool lights at times.
Car always started with both in use though (not at the same time)

optimate will be shagged

had exactly the same on the cerb, although sometimes no lights would come on!

replaced all the wiring (mine was direct to the battery) still the same issue, cut end of optimate, resoldered on, still same (my brother has one as well, tried his and it was fine)

chucked it in the bin, bought a ctek and never had any problems since!
