Hi,

We're going on the above cruise in February, dropping anchor in Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Al Fujayrah, Khasab & Dubai.

I've got a lot of information on each port of call, but I’d like to hear any recommendations, 'must-see' or do's & don'ts from real people - I think that some PH-er's fall into this category! Haha...

Many thanks in advance.

Darren.

Just got back from AD.

1) Emirates palace hotel is amazing for wonder around/drive shisha at night time on the beach.

2) The mosque is a nice thing to look at if you like buildings/architecture.

3) Yas Island is pretty cool if you like F1 and decent hotels.

They are all miles aparts, so not sure how you would get around. Car hire?

Good luck, and enjoy.

Thanks, I'd like to go to Yas Island.

I'm also curious to know if Ferrari World is worth a visit?!

Hi,

The main rollercoaster is worth it, but most of the stuff there is for kids. There is a museam which had an F40 and some verious other stuff in when I went.

If you're there and want to kill a few hours then go see it.

Have fun...

Al Fujayrah is not a great port of call, nothing really there of any note, not bad for electronics shopping. Maybe a day to stay on board and relax, or go on an arranged tour.

My wife and I are on a similar cruise. We are staying on Yas Island for four nights then board the MSC Lirica on February 12th for a seven night cruise stopping at the ports you mention. Is that the same time as you? If you have time on Yas Island the race circuit is a must, every thing from a bus ride round the track to a passenger ride in a full house two seat F1 car or a three seat dragster.I will be doing some laps in a Aston Martin race car. Also what do you think of all this Iranian stuff at the moment in the gulf??

It appears we're on the same trip, but different dates. You’ll have to let me know how it goes, along with any tips/recommendations.

What are you views on formal wear/nights? Reading reviews on other MSC cruises, it seems they are pretty relaxed on the definition of formal attire.

Hmmmm... I’ve got my fingers crossed that the Iran see sense, however if all else fails, I’m sure the Royal Navy (with some support from the yanks) will keep it open.

I will reply as soon as we return, unless we appear on Iranian TV in silly gray suites !!??

I will be taking a jacket and tie just in case and hopefully they will stay on hangers. It wont be DJ`s at the captain`s table but smart casual. They say this to stop idiots turning up at the restaurant in shorts and football tops.
As for Iran, its over 250 miles from Abu Dhabi and the narrowest part of the gulf is 100 miles wide. The ship will cruise nowhere near the place. As you say we will have plenty of back up if necessary.I think there is more chance of French fishermen blocking cross channel ferries than our cruise being affected.
