GT Zaskar Carbon Expert 2011 - best upgrades?

Hello, I've just brought this bike, reading user reviews although the frame is great, it seems to be let down by some average components. Any recommendations on what would make good upgrades? I would particually like to reduce weight from the components,i'm not a hard or heavy rider.

Just go to your fav online parts emporium, select whatever component and sort by "Price decending". After the first few in the "HOW MUCH" section i'm sure you'll find something suitable!

(the only problem is Component prices seem to have really gone up over the last 12 odd months. A full spec drivetrain is now an expensive proposition when bought singularly)

A full carbon bike for a grand sound amazing value, good luck and I only wish I had some free money.

I'd leave it a while personally unless the money is burning a hole in your pocket.

Work out after a while where YOU think the weak links are. If you can't tell without reading the mags/forums then for all intents and purposes there aren't any.

Also, stuff wears out, especially this time of year so wait until it does so before replacing it with better.

If you're really intent on replacing for weight reduction then wheels/tyres offer the best bang per buck normally. Not sure what tyres came with your bike but I saved almost half a kilo on mine just by changing them to some decent folding ones. Cost : £60 the pair.

Wheels are always the most noticeable upgrade but can cost a fair bit. seat post, bars and stem are a quick and easy way to lose some weight without breaking the bank and they are often a good deal stiffer than stock components. Easton EA70 and raceface stuff is pretty good.

Good spot! Yes £990 for a carbon hard tail was far too good to turn down, all sold out now!
Yes think I'll go for lighter tyres first and see how the other bits do, decent wheels seem to cost a fortune!
