I think he went to the pub!!!! 53 laps of coverage of the first 2 cars, missed all the action in 3rd, 4th and 5th positions, plus spins, pit stops etc., etc., etc. What a waste of a good race. Bloody French tosspot. He got his money easy today. Never mind, Silverstone next week and we can blank Panis and the Renaults.

Did nobody else notice that with 8 laps left Martin Brundle and James what's-his-name had been moaning for 5 laps that they coverage was rubbish. then AS SOON as the director goes to the decent battle, ITV take a break!!

Have to say it was the worst TV covreage I can remember - absolute rubbish. I know they keep saying that they are dependent on the host director but one would thnk that with so much advertising on ITV they would want to keep people watching their channel. They should have a word with Ecclestone or whoever and tell them it's not good enough. I turned over to watch the tennis. Rich...

I think Bernie has the 'right' to put the boot in when coverage is so disgraceful, and he probably will now. F1 is almost entirely dependant on TV (sponsorship and advertising) and the ratings will collapse if this sort of rubbish continues.

There was a good race going on, but we were never given the chance to see it. Sorry for the commentators, because although they know about the mid-field action they have to talk about what's on the screen.

The coverage was a real mess - not only by the French producers but also by the ITV producers who once again took glee in taking advantage of the F1 audience. Why the hell do they have 50 minutes of uninterrupted football on ITV but adverts every 10 minutes during F1?
And they're not short ads either - they are the big-budget designer variety.

Who carries Bernie's live F1 feed during the race?

Apart from what else has been said, why did they have to have those football idiots turning a program about F1 into a football show for 20 minutes?

I agree, the coverage was pretty hopeless.
I thought Bernie had opened up more digital footage to the host terrestrial broadcaster so we could see more in-car pictures etc.?

I suspect most of us feel the same - come on Ted, write to ITV and Formula1 Administration and let them know? Could even be a Petrol Ted Rant....

The coverage was poor enough but the icing on the cake was an ex-Football presenter who knows nothing about F1, talking about football. A real disgrace.

Dave.

It's not exactly as if it's beyond the realms of available technology to have all of the raw camera feeds piped directly to each broadcaster to allow their own producer to follow the battles that their viewers are interested in.

Is there any reason that they don't do this?

The French Grand Prix was in question for this season I believe. Hopefully Mr. Ecclestone has already decided for next year. Do we need a 2hour Renault advert ??? I think not.
I agree with the posts regarding ITV's poor showing too, leaving for some poxy adverts as soon as we actually get to see some action, then putting some gobsh*te football presenters on during F1 coverage, as if the football didn't get enough coverage (without adverts too) as it is. A poor performance all round. Hope they get their act together next weekend.

Was it just me, or was anyone else thinking: "Oh do shut up!"?
ITV needs a proper commentator instead of this dd. I swear if I hear "Gooooooooo!!!!!" one more time I'm buying a shotgun!

ITV's coverage is rubbish.

James Allen is irritating beyond degree, and simply should not be in the job.

And the French direction was so poor that Bernie should do something...

I must admit to getting bored with the whole thing and watching Battle of Britain on DVD instead...

I am told the French GP is a blinder, but we aren't seeing a thing as the french director is focusing the attention on a french car, circulating on it's own for 15 laps.

the Renault is not a french car but an English car run from an English factory buy English people just with french money !!!!!!
