Bitten! and Canon G5 advice...

Got money towards a Canon 1100D kit with Tamron lens for Christmas and whilst I love it am just too scared about taking it out at night on my own as I live in London. (small female may I add) Enjoying learning to use it and will no doubt use it a lot in company and on holiday next year.

In light of this did some research and got a Canon G5 Powershot off Ebay today, hardly used with loads of extras (case, spare battery, spare sandisk cards) for a great price.

It may only be 5MP but I'm sure it'll be grand for slinging in my bag for shots out and about when I'm on my own. I also really like the old skool look of it.

Anyone here had a G5 in the past? Any tips?

I had G5 before I got my DSLR and it is a very capable camera (I've still got a G6 for when the SLR is too big).

The zoom is a bit restricted but the quality of the images is very good, especially if you shoot in RAW and use the AV/TV/M modes rather than the auto settings.

Thanks for the reply, that's exactly what I was hoping for. Will be using it for mostly portraits and random photos when out and about rather than zooming.

Should be ideal as something a bit more portable than the 1100D.
