Supprised no ones mentioned these guys recently (maybe im too old )with their new album and upcoming tour.
Unfortunatly the tour is only North America atm.
Seen 'em twice many moons ago but not with Diamond Dave fronting. Wouldn't have minded seeing them this time round.

Saw them in 1978 supporting Black Sabbath. It may have been their first visit to the UK I think.

I saw them in 1978, 1979 and 1984 over here.

Those first 6 albums are amongst my favourites.

Totally lost interest when DLR left, and they became an AOR rock act with a stand-out guitarist.

That said, I'm not that interested in the reunion, it can't possibly capture that energy and enthusiasm of 30 odd years ago.

Plus DLR's voice is not in great shape.

Ah well, just have to watch Montreal '84 again.

Would have been great to be in Cafe Wha yesterday, but I will probably go and see them on the US tour.
I reckon they will be headlining the Sunset Strip Music Festival in August.

I met Sammy Hagar at a book signing in Toronto last year, great bloke and easy to talk to.
I only knew Van Hagar really, looking at a few youtube vids of DLR back with the band, he looks a right state.

Everything up to the original departing of DLR is superb. A very important rock band in the scheme of things, in my opinion.

some of the guitar playing on 5150 is sublime. A great driving album, and my fave by VH

so has anyone heard it? i did, sounds way better than the tracks they did for the best of, will need to hear it again, but it was better than i'd imagined.

I like older Van Halen, but they are about 20 years past it now. Eddie has lost his mind from the years of drink and drug abuse, Eddie sacking Michael Anthony only to replace him with son really hammered the final nail in the coffin for me. Eddie used to have some really cool licks, it's a shame things went so tits up for them.

Then again, I suppose we have Chickenfoot now, which is like Van Halen with a better guitarist, if not the catchy DLR songs.

Now DLR, he could pull it out of the bag when he was not destroyed on coke. "Eat em an smile" has some absolutely killer tracks, helped out to no end by having Steve Vai on guitar of course...

I used to really like VH, both with DLR and SH. I have never seen them live but would not go now, I think like a few acts they are well past their prime.
Read Sammy Hagars autobiography, 'Red', a couple of months back, very good read.
