Moving to Evesham - any tips?
Discussion
Wotcha fellow PHers
I'm upping sticks and taking the tribe from Horsham to Evesham.
Any tips for pubs, drives; brothels etc?
I've been there a few times recently on recces and find it a pretty and happy place and a couple of years ago we had a boat at Twyning. Well, more of a submarine really but that's a different nightmare
Equally, are there any places / things to avoid? I hope it's as nice as it seems superficially.
We're moving to the Greenhill Park Road area.

Dear DM,
recent Pershore resident (6 weeks yet) Jet calling
Swan at Birlingham - real ale, real food, real pub says the sign and it ain't wrong. Not cheap but yummy and lots of it.
Pershore market Weds-Sat - 2x butchers, 2x veggie shops, bakers, fish + usual odd little stalls.
Brandy Cask, Bridge Street brews own beer.
I've only been to Evesham a couple of times as 'tis the nearest for a reasonable supermarket.
You might want to ask this in the regional PHers thread as things move on pretty quick in here.
Midlands probably,
regards,
Jet

Evesham is OK, Greenhill is the nicest part of town. The shops are pretty downmarket, if you like nice things shop in Broadway or Cheltenham.
Excellent pubs are sparse IMO, but again Broadway is nice for such things and has some good reataurants.
Best fish and chips in Evesham comes from a shop called Posh Plaice, the others are not a patch. The Thai Emerald is good for Thai food.
Look out foe the foreigh lady selling big issue in the town centre, the way she says "Big Issue" has to heard to be believed!
Buy Asparagus in season, but not from the place near the bridge as their fields are right next to the main road. Better to go to one of the farms off the main road.
Best value Barber is Tiggs in the market square.
Watch out for evil traffic wardens
The speed camera on Cheltenham Road is always loaded with camera and film (3 points for me) 35 in a 30.
Fish Hill is great, but many bikers have acidents on it so be careful if on the bike
I live in Dumbleton, so Evesham is our nearest town. Look out for my Reflex purple Tuscan or Grey A6, both with PH stickers in the rear window.

I have a mate in Dumbleton who owns a red 964 and has a couple of 924s in his driveway. With Dumbleton being so small I guess you might know Lee? RSGulp said:

I have met Lee a couple of times at Village events, Ithink my wife knows his wife too. He lives about 300m from me (I am near the Village Club).Tonker's parents also live in Dumbleton. So thast a few PH'ers in the area some of the time at least.
I live in Badsey just round the corner.
Plenty of good roads.
I normally go up fish hill, to stow, old Cheltenham road, cirencester, bibury, burford, chipping Norton, moreton and home again. Give us a shout if you fancy a bike blast when your settled.
Plenty of little veg smallholdings and farm shops for fresh food.

Welcome to the land of webbed feet, funny big issue sellers and a nearly working cinema. I live off Pershore rd where the other speed camera is. Not too bad a place and you are on a nice side of town. Since the town centre was refurbed I never use it as free parking has been reduced significantly and pay ones are expensive, guess others feel the same as the town is full of charity and pound shops. The Thai is very good. PM me if you have any specific questions. Did not realise there were so many phers around..
I grew up just outside Evesham. I've lived in a few places in the intervening 25 years, and I'm in Bishop's Cleeve at the moment. My parents still live in the village I grew up in, and I'm over there every couple of weeks.
Greenhill's probably best area in the town. The town itself was always rough, and I don't think it's got much better. There used to be a transient population of fruit pickers, which guaranteed fighty weekends. Almost all of the orchards have gone now, but the fights are still there.
There's a lot to see and do in the area, and I'm glad to be back fairly nearby. Good luck with it!

I'm surprised at the amount of local PHers! Ive lived in Littleton just outside of Evesham for 10 years now. Evesham is an alright place, as previously mentioned has more than it's share of pound shops and charity shops. The Greenhill area is nice, but some parts of town are a bit grubby. Theres a great curry house on waterside called Rily's, definitely reccommend that! Pub wise the Fleece in Bretforton is really nice the one's in town aren't great.
One downside is that Theres a LOT of 'members of the travelling community' around so things do tend to go missing...
It's generally a pretty nice, close knit place to live and as mentioned the Big Issue seller is bizarre!
