Wedding In France - Car Hire

We have a friends Wedding to attend in the Dordogne in August and it seems to be becoming a semi road trip / French tour to get there.
The plan was Eurostar to Paris, pick up a Hertz Fun Car (Evora) then zig zag through France taking in some cheese and wine before doing the wedding and then driving down to Monaco and dropping car off at Nice for flight back.
Probably looking at a week in total.
We have also had another couple piggyback our idea so might have to sack of the idea of a Lotus for something larger
Experienced French Travellers, is this trip feasible? Where is good to go? What is a good car to hire and from who? Has anyone use Hertz Adrenaline/Fun range? How much was it?
