Wind Turbine Technician

Im really intersested in becoming a wind turbine technician but dont have an engineering background. I have been in the construction industry all my working life and have also been in the RAF for 5 years.
Ive heard that you dont need an engineering background to get into the installation side. Could anybody please tell me if this is true??
