Hi

I have used an old Spanish buggy type chassis to form the basis of an open wheeled (can be closed) single seat race car.

The chassis has been chopped and changed a lot, so barely resembles what it was, everything else is new, including the engine which is a new 2011 honda fireblade engine.

It can be raced off road, on track or both...I would prefer on track...

Any ideas where I can race this?

Weight is about 350 kgs I guess, power is about 180 bhp and has a fixed rear axle (turning is done by drifting).

HELP!!! I have spent a huge amount of effort and money on creating this, and now want to race it....

Have a look at the 750 Motor Club. I believe both their RGB and Bikesports championships could accomodate your car.

From a position of no knowledge...

Is a locked/welded diff allowed? Just wondering if having to drift around every corner is going to be a problem for circuit racing in terms of regulations.

Also I was here hoping for pics of a home built racer smile

Hi

I'd really like to race in MK750, but from reading their regs, it either has to be a certain engine, or has to be a two seater....

Pics will follows once completed ....

Gareth- you've made life quite difficult for yourself! It is very difficult to make a one-off car eligable for a number of championships. You'll probably have to make some technical changes to make the car conform.
Hill climbing and sprinting would me much easier to do in your case.

Unfortunately, that's extremely unlikely.

The Monoposto Racing Club accepts self-built single seaters - and the overall 2011 Mono1000cc championship for bike engined cars was won by someone who designed and built his own car rather than using a commercially available chassis such as a Jedi or Speads.

You could run home built single seater sports car in 750MC Bikesports.

Provided it is "closed wheel" (like a Radical / Stohr/SPeads / etc..)you should be fine, although you will need some aero to have any chance of being competitive.....

750 is a great club, the bikesports championship is their fastest formula and looks like it will get stronger and stronger now there is some real focus from the club, and the drivers.

Hi Gareth

When you say it is based on a buggy chassis and can be used on/off road it makes me think that it's not a fit for BikeSports.

Is it - albeit loosely - a bit like this?
