Another thing I'm going to do funds permitting is replace the suspension. Given the content of the sticky in the general forum devoted to Gaz Golds I'm looking at alternatives. Does anyone know if the Intrax RSA (says Chimaera/Griffith only on the website) would fit? What are the alternatives please?

Cheers,

Barkychoc

I doubt it - when I researched shocks when there was an option for the V8S it always had a separate part number to Griff / Chim

Hi All
I have Penski front and rear, full rose joints

Note the face plates 300lbs of steel just to load the back so I can weld the anti roll bar brackets in place.

If you need a face plate I have others I may pass on .

What is your budget, and what do you want to achieve? Just gentle driving on typical A/B roads, or something more demanding. At the budget end of the scale there a noticeable difference in behaviour between cheaper and more expensive dampers and if you are interested in the car's handling and ride comfort then this is an area where it is worth investing your money.

No track days, but I live on the edge of the Penwith Moors. Classic Cornish country roads, no proper surface left, high hedges, so just need to soak up all the bumps without grounding the exhaust and make sure we go tightly round the corners. Sadly, many tourists seem to think we are a foreign country and drive accordingly...

Budget is not not an issue but I would set depending on the value added by each set of shocks.

Cheers,

I'm still on the original shocks, 92,000mls, so I'd also be very interested in the outcome.

Cheers,
I had a set of 3000S RS-A's made for a customer, and they didn't fit initially - seems they confused the car (which is of course an M-chassis) with the TVR S (I did give them the M-series Koni cross-reference #s...). (They now feature the M-cars as a fitment on the website as a result). Which tells me they must have the dimensions and specs for TVR S models. wink

Anyway, the custom set cost the same as the existing RS-A TVR fitments, which I assume would also apply if I ordered a set to fit the V8S

I put Nitrons on mine many years ago - I think it was the first thing I did to the car. They're at the higher end of the market but they made a huge difference and I've been very happy with them both for B Road hooning and track days. I was living up in the Fens at the time and they soaked up the bumps on the terrible roads up there brilliantly once I got the settings right. I've just had them rebuilt and put on stiffer springs but haven't tested them yet. I'd recommend them if your budget will stretch that far.

Have finally settled on GG Pros, they seem to be good value for the money. The garage is going to order them in this week. I'm sure they'll recommend an appropriate spring rate, but any advice is welcome (assuming that is, they can be ordered with different spring rates or am I getting confused with the monos). Cheers.

Your supplier should advise on suitable spring rates and damper settings after discussing your requirements. If they don't, go to a different supplier.

There have been many threads on this but very few I can think of with a conclusion to record the combination of car/damper/F&R spring rates and on the road results . If you’ve fitted new shocks and would like to share your results pm me and I’ll draw up a table for distribution to anyone who’s interested. Info in this order please

car,damper,damper setting F,damper setting R,spring rate F in lbs,spring rate R in lbs,outcome

example

V8S,GGPro,6 clicks CW,8 clicks CW,250,225,big improvement on B roads

I will gladly post my suspension setup, but shouldn’t the dampers be set from fully screwed in, therefore clicks will be anti clockwise.

Mine vital stats are.

V8S,GGPro,10 clicks ACW,8 clicks ACW,450,375,Still trying to find the right balance

Maybe you should add fields re ride height, just a thought.

I did ponder this but are all dampers the same ie fully screwed in is rock hard? Happy to change it but just want to to be consistent so it's possible to get a meaningful comparison. Open to suggestions here. Happy add ride height if people want it.

Damper settings should always be specified from the 'hard' end of the adjustment range. The reason is that there's always slight variation in the amount of travel on the adjuster, even with the same production batch. The 'fully hard' setting is always the same and the extra travel shows up at the 'soft' end of the adjustment. So if you use the soft setting as your reference point, you can end up with different amounts of damping.

How about this?

car,damper,damper setting F,damper setting R,spring rate F in lbs,spring rate R in lbs,outcome

Where damper setting = clicks from hardest setting.

If you want ride height included, where is it to be measured from so it's consistent across all cars?
