Would this be sacrilage?
Just an idea, car has been kept outdoors for some time, interior is basically scrap and there's more moss growing around the back window than there is between my block paving. Will consider my options once I get it home, but it does seem too good to break

Sounds fun! When are you going to collect it?
Not sure yet, hoping for weekend after next. Guy text me this afternoon to say he had started pulling the engine out but was struggling to separate the engine loom from the main loom so wiring may be a bit of a mess by the time I get it?phillpot said:

Mike, would it be worthwhile doing the mods required to fit that engine for only 135 BHP?? Might be more exciting to cut out the floors in the tub and do a Flintstones on it Just an idea, car has been kept outdoors for some time, interior is basically scrap and there's more moss growing around the back window than there is between my block paving. Especially when you can pick up Rover V8's and gearboxes fairly cheaply. If it's anything like my paving then a good blast with the jet wash should see the back of it. Sounds like another little project for you, but it still doesn't get you a spot lights bonnet for the S3...

Looking through eBay at Rover V8's a 110K miler looks to be about £350 or so. Couple of hundred for a rebuild with new parts. Should give a respectable 3.9 V8 (or larger) for less than £1,000?
Then a suitable gearbox, new hood, few other bits and bobs, plus loads of hard work and many many hours... Gets you what is still a fair priced V8S.
You know you want to...

???
It's only connected to the car by one 7(?) way multi plug thingy in the passenger footwell and the tacho connection to the coil.
