Which £1500 full sus mtb?

Looking to move up from my hardtaail to a full suspension trail bike. Budget is £1500 and I think i've narrowed it down to the 2011 Specialized Stumpy FSR Comp, 2011 Trek Fuel EX7, 2011 and 2012 Giant Trance X3 (these two appear to be available for about the same price for some reason). Anyone got any experience and/or opinions on these? Any other bikes worth considering?

Overall, would you rate the Canyon higher than the Stumpy, considering the Specialized was originally £2000?
Frame and suspension design are more important then outright spec however the Canyon appears to ride well from what I've read and speaking to a guy the other week at Swinley who loved his. I've not seen the spec of the Stumpy but I'd imagine the spec is decent but not amazing. You can't really go wrong with the Stumpys (I've had one for nearly 3 years which is the longest I've ever kept a bike for!), they handle well and are very versatile however with the rise in component costs in the last few years the specs are getting lower and lower to meet certain price points.
If it were my money I'd go for the Canyon but if you prefer to buy locally so you can test ride and have the back-up of a shop then it might not be for you. If you did go for the Canyon I'd certainly up the budget for the AM7.0 if you can stretch to it.

What kind of riding are you planning to do? The Nerve AM has quite a lot of travel, unless you are planning on LOTS of descending the Nerve XC could be a better proposition. I have the XC7 from 2011 and rarely require (or want) more than 120mm of travel. Only times are doing big descents in the Lakes and the Alps (Morzine).

A bit of everything really! Mainly trails, uphill and downhill, ideally more downhill! Nothing too full on though, but a few jumps and drops here and there. I'll probably do some trips to Wales, the Lakes and hopefully the Alps.My thinking is ideally ~140mm travel with the option of dropping the forks down to 120mm or so and using lockout/propedal on the rear for climbing. I know it's not ideal for going uphill but should be fun coming back down!

Looks like a good deal, but i'll likely need a m/l (5ft 11"). Thanks for that. Nice looking spec, although the frame graphics are a bit garish!On the topic of Canyons and YTs, does anyone know the deal with import duty, as I assume they come direct from Germany?

I've now owned an '11 Stumpy FSR Comp for about six months and I am really happy with it. While it's component list isn't as shiny as some listed/linked-too on this thread, it does what I need an XC bike to do - Change gear with no fuss when I tell it too, soak up the bumps with aplomb and make me feel like a better rider than I really am.
Despite the longer travel, it climbs well enough - engine is the weak link here! - and it gives me the confidence to push-on when heading downhill.
I mainly ride around the Surrey Hills and am not a racer (unless another biker is around!).
I test rode this, the Fuel EX7, Specialized Camber Expert and an Enduro (there were a couple of others also (one might have been a Giant)) - what I do remember is that the Stumpy was the one that just felt "right".
Either way, have fun choosing!

I've been looking at the Canyon range recently, what made you choose the AM over the XC? Was it just the longer suspension travel?I noticed the AM 7.0 and the XC 8.0 are exactly the same price. The XC is almost 1.5kg lighter though according to the specs. But then the AM comes in the badass Mamba Green!
