Is there anything better? Just spent the weekend driving on some of the fastest, most empty roads in Britain (Northwest coast of Scotland) & went to one of the best pieshops I have ever been to - even better, they have a website (rudimentary) & will mailorder pies.

I have no affiliation, but just thought I would share that with you, I mean this is PistonHeads - Pies Matters isn't it?

cheers,

Cheers Craig.
I will be in that area in a few weeks, will be sure to check out the pie shop.
You are right about the roads, been checking them out for a few years!

It obviously isn't a secret to our german friends - most of the few cars & bikes that I did see had german plates. Knew how to drive too!
Had a very enjoyable blast with a german reg Audi estate (RS2 or 4 - couldn't quite see) glued to my rear bumper for about 40 miles - we weren't racing, just having a fun drive

Nice to see that tourism is picking up after last year...

cheers,
Craig

There's usually plenty of Germans and Dutch up there, they are normally more friendly than the odd English driver I see!

So is the west coast of scotland not good enough for you then?!?! It has to be the North West Coast!

Well to you then!

And at least in the north west, you get away from all the Pie Cameras. Unless the locals are out with mobile Pie Detector Vans.

It's OK, I had my jammer on, although it's better suited to the fruit Pie vans
Oh dear, I'm going to get creamed if this carries on....

Just back from N.W. Scotland. Pies are even better than expected! Photo's of Michael Winner in the shop might put some off eating but can be avoided. Will be ordering large supplies.
Roads just too good to believe. Nice to see all the shite weather "down south" while we were "up north".

Now, if I can just explain to my son that I will be missing his wedding this weekend to go to Rockingham.....

Pies better than expected... eh??? Well I'm in the area at the end of August with some friends (not in a sports car worst luck, just a hiremobile, but will definitely put them to the test, and also have a European taster with me to give his (professional cooks) opinion. Perhaps we can get the image of bad british food removed or at least reduced???
Does the Pieshop know about PHers??? specials for PHers TED??????

Missed the shelling by a few days, we were actually staying the opposite side of Durness to Loch Eriboll (now why didn't that make me feel any safer, oh yes, we were nearer to where they were actually supposed to be aiming!).
Later in the week a scheduled flight to Benbecula 10 mins from landing was ordered by a U.S. Navy warship to "Change course as you are entering a Military area". Needless to say the pilot didn't argue, but an investigation is going on.
I like a nice quiet holiday.......
