Asda Vindaloo Ready Meal
Discussion
Please don't start with the usual PH fake snobbery.
Has anyone tried this?
It's possibly the best supermarket curry ready meal I have had. Yes I know that homemade is better but sometimes you don't have 2 hours to prep and make it.
Proper hot ( I can manage 2 drops of Blairs 3am without crying) but I'm still feeling the burn of this meal 20 mins later, not stupid hot, but surprising for a supermarket.
Very tasty, nice thick gravy and tender good sized lumps of chicken.
One of the best Vindaloo's I have had, not better than a good resturant though.
And no, I didn't walk round ASDA, it was delivered, so I can still keep my fleet of sportscars and company directorships right?

Asda do a selection of pre-packed curry/chinese takeaway bags. However they are filled with items from the curry counter.
Alternatively you can choose your own selection from the curry counter and its excellent on the tates v value for money scale.
Morrisons curry bags are ok (on the taste v value for money scale), although they have recently increased the price and reduced the contents

Slightly off topic but a few years ago I had a reasonable scam regarding Tesco Vindaloo curries as they did not contain any potato.Vindaloo means "with potato" I enjoyed the arguments with customer services regarding the meaning of the word and that they were selling items not as described.
Had a few free curries out of that.

Mmmm yes interesting,an Indian actually told me about the meaning so perhaps he was wrong. As mentioned in the wiki article there is a mistaken belief about the inclusion of potato in the dish.I stand corrected and happy in the knowledge I baffled Tesco with bulls

Well on the back of that and the rest of the food supplied we have now switched from Sainsbury's to Asda.
Curry was the best supermarket one I have had, better than some restuarant currys.
Pizza was just brilliant (with a couple of spicy style enhancements and Anchovies)
Mozzarella was far superior to Sainsbury's (which is nasty and rubbery).
All the rest was good quality on par or better than Sainsbury's
Veg was as good as anywhere else.
We will still use the local Waitrose for any special meals or specific ingredients and the local SA butcher for specialist meat, so we havn't gone total chav.
So has Asda improved?
Is the snobbery about Asda not warranted or it it regarding the customers who shop in the store.....or online
Or has Sainsbury's masivly dropped it's standards over the last few years?
