...Who??

Everytime I open a newspaper, watch TV or go online I see this youthful looking, bespectacled chap who is some kind of choirmaster.

I believe he has put together a choir who have, for this year, taken the once coveted Christmas number one slot.

Who is this man? More to the point, how has someone so, let us say, geek looking, become such a fashionable, trendy icon?

If its who I think it is he is a very enthusiastic bloke about singing and stuff.

He would make a great teacher but why is he on telly? God knows but he is a million times better than fking jedwood.

(I too was surprised he was straight.)

I'm not into this kind of music, but I've watched a couple of his programmes. He has an amazing coaching and motivational ability, based on great empathy with his team.

I've thought about using him as an example in Management training sessions. If companies and schools adopted his coaching methods, I think we'd be more successful. He is the complete opposite of the dictatorial, arrogant, stereotype of a leader (illustrated on TV by Simon Cowell or Alan Sugar) but instead someone who understands how to get the best out of people.

Agree completely. I watched the forces wives progs and was impressed. We have a similar choirmaster (I sing in 2 different choirs) and they can be very motivational when they're good. Malone is very good!

He is back on the screen in Autumn 2012 with another series, he has not disclosed as yet who or where the new choir is going to be formed, so contender for Christmas Number One 2012?

He knows what he's up to... befriending and comforting a load of slutty squaddies' wives all lonely while hubby is spending his days playing beach volleyball and working on the tan.

Top bloke, IMHO. Watched the show where he went to a sink estate and managed to get a lot of people who didn't believe they could sing to sing complicated stuff reasonably well. Motivational and supportive even when being necessarily judgemental. True mentor.

My sister sings in a rock choir and the choirmaster seems similar.

(And I think some of you guys' need your gaydar recalibrating to account for such false positives. Alternatively just stop caring and enjoy, maybe?)

He reminds of Alan Partridge, but I suspect he really doesn't care what people think, which can only be a good thing. I've seen another programme where he got a few shy/reluctant teenagers to sing in a choir, and he did a great job coaxing them into life.

Fair play to the fella.
